8 Of The Worst Natural Blood Pressure Remedies That Are Being Promoted

Natural blood pressure (BP) remedies are all the rage now, especially online where anyone can produce anything. It is all quite anonymous.

I read once that antibiotics was good for a fungus toenail. This article was high up in the charts and had rave reviews. The only problem is that antibiotics have no effect, at all, on fungus. Doesn't touch them, doesn't even look at them.

So when I was researching my own high BP remedies (which I have done and are free to view, check out the resource box) I noticed a vast amount of natural remedies which were down right wrong, not researched or worse still made the issue worse.

In some cases "natural diuretics" have been the new kid on the block. They remove salt and water from the body. Reducing BP? Actually no, there is no evidence that they do that.

The following are the 8 worst best natural remedies for BP. Now they may or may not cause harm, but when they are advocated as blood pressure reducing agents with no research and with no side effects, well that's just wrong.

If you are concerned then talk to a Homeopathic Doctor (registered) or your own Doctor. And don't stop your own prescribed medication unless your own Doctor tells you to.

1- Licorice Root. Common supplement, but can actually raise BP.

2- Ginseng. Can cause nervousness, excitement, headache, insomnia and may even raise blood pressure.

3- Echinacea- May suppress the immune system

4- Comfrey. Can cause Liver failure.

5- Feverfew. Can interact with anti-blood clotting agents- therefore can increase the risk of bleeding.

6- Ginkgo Biloba. When added with Aspirin can increase the risk of bleeding in the eye, bleeding in the brain and reduced blood clotting.

7- Vitamin C. Shows no evidence of reducing blood pressure. As a side note, there is no evidence that it prevents or slows down a cold (many people have tried, but no reduced cold symptoms).

8- St Johns Wort. May increase depression if the patient is taking an anti-depressant, can have interactions with blood pressure medication.

But do you know what? What I have found is that non-medication types promote these natural remedies. Sure there are some out there which can help, but something else bothers me.

You stop taking medication, but then you start to take "natural medication". You are still ingesting something, you still have to "take" something. Don't you find that a little bit odd?

I do. So that is why I researched other, less invasive methods of reducing blood pressure. And do you know what? They work. They reduce my levels by about 10-120 mmHg and I actually have fun doing it.

Check out the resource box to see what I mean.
